National Energy Policy

It is technically and economically feasible for a diverse mix of existing renewable technologies to completely meet U.S. energy needs over the coming decades.  Studies by Public Citizen show that clean, renewable technologies can reliably generate as much energy as conventional fuels without significant carbon emissions, destructive mining, or the production of radioactive waste.

Energy efficiency also plays and important role in reducing our dependence on fossil fuels. The Public Citizen report contends that the transition to clean, sustainable forms of energy production requires aggressive application of existing technologies - and investments in new ones.

The United States could substantially reduce its global warming pollution by using technologies now available to make power plants, businesses, homes, and cars more efficient and increasing the use of clean, renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar power.

Let your national government representatives know that you want them to support a global warming policy that includes a national renewable energy standard, and incentives for the development of clean, renewable energy technologies. Also insist that they support reductions in U.S. global warming pollution from all sectors and active U.S. participation in international negotiations to reduce heat trapping gases. Tell them you want immediate action to meet these goals in an equitable, economic and just manner.
